DION BEEBE ASC, ACS: American Society of Cinematographers Award Nomination

Oscar winner, Dion Beebe ASC, ACS, a calm and creative presence on any film set, is yet another of Australia’s internationally acclaimed cinematographers, 100% professional, film savvy inside and out. The fact that he has worked with many of filmdom’s royalty, including Jane Campion, Michael Mann, Martin Campbell, Rob Marshall and many others, bears witness to this.

Latest news for Dion is that he has been nominated for an American Society of Cinematographers Award for his work on the Rob Marshall film, ‘Nine’. The other finalists in the Outstanding Achievement category are Barry Ackroyd, BSC for ‘The Hurt Locker’, Christian Berger, AAC for ‘The White Ribbon’, Mauro Fiore, ASC for ‘Avatar’ and Robert Richardson, ASC for ‘Inglorious Basterds’. The winner will be announced on February 27 in Hollywood.

Dion was born in Brisbane in the 1960s but spent his early years in South Africa. Seeing Ingmar Bergman’s, ‘Cries and Whispers’ projected on a sheet in his Dad’s makeshift lounge-room theatre was just one of the building blocks creating his ultra-solid foundation in film. He took a cinema course in Pretoria following it up with a cinematography major at AFTRS where he was noticed by lecturers and contemporaries alike who have commented on his combination of skill, fine eye for composition as well as his excellent work ethic.

Somehow in between all his award-winning work, Dion Beebe married Director, Unjoo Moon, creating a production company as well as a family which includes their young son, Axil.

Congratulations to Dion yet again!
